The ATA Board seeks advice from a number of sources,
but especially from two advisory groups - the Manufacturing
Advisory Group and the Retail, Service & Repair
Advisory Group. The Manufacturers Advisory Group comprises
senior people from the training area of the four vehicle
manufacturers. The Retail, Service and Repair Group
has representatives from the RS&R sector for each
State and Territory with two representatives from the
FCAI Service Managers Panel trainers section. Both groups
have representatives from the vehicle and general divisions
of the AMWU.

Projects
& Services
Training Package
A training package is the collection of competency
standards (the skills, knowledge and attitudes required
for current and future on-the-job performance by the
workforce across the industry), assessment and learning
materials that surround a qualification for a set of
occupational areas across a number of levels. The major
feature is that qualifications are based on industry-derived
skills acquired.
Training Products
ATA has developed and will continue to develop high-level
training materials including an assessment instrument
to assist training providers and enterprises to achieve
quality-training programs.
Educative Services
ATA is funded by DEST to promote training in the industry
across New Apprenticeship Centres and Registered Training
Providers.
Industry Promotion
ATA is involved in promotion of the industry as an
exciting career choice by raising its image, especially
in schools. ATA is in a unique position to link industry
promotion to the training pathways necessary for industry
recruitment and ongoing development.
Component Distribution
Through its partnership with the broad FCAI membership,
ATA has distributed some $3 million worth of vehicles,
equipment and materials via industry donations. This
helps to ensure that off-the-job training is enhanced
by the use of current materials.
Industry Advice
ATA is equipped to provide interpretation and advice
regarding access to the publicly funded vocational and
educational services. ATA can also assist enterprises
to maximise value added through training.
